Website Security

Is your website secure?

“Surely that’s down to the web host*, right?”  – WRONG!

Unfortunately as the website owner, it’s your responsibility to keep your website up to date and virus free.

Does your website have a firewall and, like your PC, is it ever scanned for viruses?

If your answer to any of these questions is no or you are not sure, you need to spring into action.

Get on the phone to your web hosts straight away, pronto, with no delay. If you are using a large hosting company, sign into your portal and see if there are extra security packages to purchase.

Currently, millions of websites are not secure and out of date. Search engines will start penalising these websites, if they are not already.

Search Engines will not recommend websites that are open to sabotage, which in turn will put their users’ data at risk.

Is your website encrypted? You can tell if your website is encrypted by checking your url and if it starts with a https, this means the page you are on has been encrypted. If its just plain http, your website is not encrypted.

*Web hosts are the companies that look after the servers your website sits on.
